Great point that builds on #625, I'd go further and as I argued in #17, you should make the character, make good (and thus popular) games with him, and then let people use him freely in their own games. Every further use feeds back into the original, making you richer and raising your status in the process. Locking the character down with copyright is the wrong move, it rests on wrong premises about a world where everyone can copy.

Speaking of wrong premises, I mentioned in #521 and #536 that in fast moving times like these everyone is naked and everyone reveals themselves. Right now, one of the most reliable tells of a "thinking person" who can't actually model other human beings is some version of "in the future everyone will just have their music/movies/books/games generated for them on the fly."

There are so many reasons this is wrong that it's baffling anyone would conclude it, yet a lot of people conclude exactly that. Plenty of people are also dooming about art and games in general, when it's pretty clear those are rather safe, even though they were the first to be disrupted.

When I release my next game, the first one I make entirely with AI, I think I'll write a big post like the SNKRX log, except focused on AI, its effects on development and on society at large, and How Most People Are Wrong About Everything When It Comes To Art. I should start gathering the points I want to make in short posts like this one, so that when it comes time to write the article it's already 80% done.
