You rotate the ship, it propels at it's own velocity (depending on what device type it is, and all the passives you have applied, plue class benefits ) and it auto fires as well under the same rules.\n\nThen, there's barrages ( a huge rapid fire burst of bullets from you ) a shield ring ( more rings = more shields ) \nand a bunch of different weapon types you pickup as powerups in the game, and also these nodes that give you benefits as well !\nThere is a lot going on. It's a slow boil, but when you start boiling.. it's very hard to put down. \n\nit has a good \" just one more round \" gameplay loop going for it.\n\nabsolutley recommend."

"text": "Wow. I heard about this game on the Path of Exile subreddit because it is so heavily inspired by it. I never would have thought that what is essentially an Asteroids clone combined with PoE's customization could possibly work, but it absolutely does.\n\nFor a mere 2 bucks you can't go wrong with this purchase. For reference, it took me 11 hours to 100% the achievements, but I definitely dragged my feet a bit because I was enjoying certain builds so much. The possibilities and sense of discovery when you find awesome new combos is exactly what I was looking for in a new game, but nothing could ever compare to PoE in that sense. This game does.\n\nI challenge anyone who ends up buying this to create the ultimate build: something that scales infinitely and can't die, but also won't crash the damn game. That's the one fatal flaw of Bytepath. You can make an invulnerable OP build that will eventually die to a game crash because the infinitely scaling enemies and millions of projectiles just fry your PC no matter how much of a beast it may be. As much of a flaw as that is, I also look at it as an added challenge. How can you not only survive and kill enemies, but how can you do it without spamming so many projectiles or leaving too many enemies on screen that would make the game crash? If anyone figures it out please let me know!\n\nMy favorite playstyle was stacking boost and cycle speed, and a few crucial keystone passives I'll let you discover on your own! Buy the game if you're a PoE theorycrafting nutcase like me. If you're not into theorycrafting your own builds in ARPGs then the game probably isn't for you, because gameplay-wise it isn't that complex. The magic is in the menus!"

Lots of depth, replayability (very distinct kinds of builds and paths through the tech-tree and class system).\n\nMy only constructive criticism would be that not much is explained at all in the UI - having beaten the game three times, I still don't know what some of the bars represent, or vague/typo'd terminology is \"area\", \"energy shield\" etc. Didn't take away from my fun, did enjoy inferring some stuff, and ultimately for the price you can't go wrong."

"text": "9/10: BYTEPATH takes the blasting fun of Asteroids, styles up the vector graphics with some glitchtastic visual options, and extends the gameplay with an expansive amount of upgradable options. Can you escape the terminal?\n\nBytepath places the player in the role of an AI in a simulation that feels an awful lot like Asteroids. Your only means of escape is the keys, but surviving long enough means building up your device with the right classes and passives to suit your play style. Do you prefer surrounding yourself with shield projectiles? Using boost to get through? Focusing only on lightning and nothing else? All of these options are feasible through the passive tree. While it isn't easy to figure out what every node in the passive tree means at a glance, the letter and color convey a pretty good gist: red H is usually something about HP, orange A has some specific attack focus, yellow S relates to SP points, and so on. While you can deselect modes, be careful to not commit prematurely: you aren't refunded an SP if you deselect one after you commit to a build.\n\nClasses provide a similar sort of customization to passives, though are generally more extreme and unrefundable once selected. Things like Tank increase health and size but slow you down, Raider gives you more resource drops, Absorber prevents damage at the cost of boost, with players being able to buy only a few classes from a set before needing to choose from completely new ones. \n\nThe devices are another way to switch up your play style, though it's free to switch between them once unlocked. Thankfully, you keep all the same classes and passive tree no matter what you switch to, though that also means you only really have one build saved at a time. Still, the ability to respec the passive tree and the boost you get to your base points every time you complete a cycle (finding all the keys and escaping), so there are plenty of ways to add variety to each replay. \n\nEven with the cyberspace context, the game definitely plays like an updated Asteroids. Zipping around, destroying floating debris and hostile ships can feel very zen when your build is working smoothly, but can turn hectic as the challenge level grows and the screen fills up. As a result, BYTEPATH feels like a juiced up version of a retro arcade classic, and a pretty damn good one at that."

"text": "BYTEPATH is an unusual specimen. At face value this is basically an Asteroids ripoff, but the focus of the game isn't on the gameplay. They've taken a shallow, ancient game and bolted a gigantic skill tree, upgrade and progression system onto it. Architecturally, that's good game design, but in terms of big picture, it's a huge waste of time and effort, because at the end of the day, this is an extensive body kit for a Lada. Lipstick on a pig. It's just Asteroids and isn't all that much fun to play, no matter how much upgrading you do. Developers really need to consider if it's worth doing what they are doing before they waste all this time doing it. \n\nNow if they took the same skill tree and applied it to a real game, we might be onto something. But we're not. It's just Asteroids, you can play that for free, so there's no need to buy this. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.\n\nA choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel \"art\" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.\n\nThere's an ugly screen filter meant to make the game look even more obsolete... like the game looks bad enough already, but they actually went out of their way to make it look worse. There's no way to turn this off. There's also ugly glitch effects and so on, but you can reduce those... it's unclear why the developer tried so hard to make the game look ugly. \n\nWhile there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals.\n\nSome of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the video game construction kit/toolset, LOVE (a set of libraries so you can make crap 2D games with Lua). This is a very poor quality toolset that unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine.\n\nThese technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.\n\nBYTEPATH is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend."

It's easy enough to learn the basics of the game strategically and mechanically, but it gets difficult once you start getting into the different levels of new game +. There is enough diversity in units and items that you will want to play the game a decent amount to try out different synergies/builds.\n\nTL;DR: Easily worth it for the price."

"text": "SNKRX is a good game, but far from great. I feel like with some more updates it could really shine.\n\nthe game is good, but it has major problems with tutorials, proper balancing, UI, and information hidden from the player.\n\nfirst of all, this game needs a tutorial. there is a guide in-game, but this only covers so little. when i first played the game, I was lost and had no idea what I was doing.\n\nbalancing is also a big issue. some heroes and items are ridicilously overpowered or underpowered, not even subjectivly, but statistically. after every few rounds, you can choose one of 4 items wich will give a passive bonus to your heroes. they should all be just as good then and be a relatively hard choice, but one item, for example, gives your 1st and last hero a damage buff. however, another item gives ALL your heroes a damage buff. and its not like its a higher tier item: they can appear on the same selection screen. besides: some of lower tier heroes are the exact same, and some of the lower tier heroes are objectivly better than higher tier heroes: the infestor is infinitely better than the corruptor, for example.\n\nspeaking of wich: the heroes and enemies need some proper character. currently all the heroes are just differently colored blobs: sometimes the same color, wich makes it hard to know wich hero died if you didnt pay attention. \n\none boss in particular is also just insanely unfair.\n\nsomething i really need in the game is an encyclopedia. you cant really plan ahead and create a strategy before you are going in, so you just have to guess sometimes. an encyclopedia with useful information about both heroes and enemies would be extremely helpful.\n\nits a good game: but it could be a lot better.\n\n"
